The mug comes with a rubbery red silicone lid. It's the case for the whole package. The cover serves as a coaster. This is an improved version of what originally was a funnel.

Scoop & Leveller

Inside there is a foldable scooping spoon. It's also used to stir. This may not serve those who prefer scaling. It holds the same capacity of 14 grams as the original Aeropress.

Filter paper holder

There is a plastic case that holds the filters, and with the Go, it's compact and smaller.

Filter Papers

The holes were straight in line with the original version, but the new version is in circles, with the middle hole omitted.

Chamber and Plunger

This is also called the brewing chamber. Aeropress Go makes a capacity of 237 ml/ 8 oz coffee. The plunger pushes the hot water through the beans into the mug.

How to brew coffee with Aeropress Go

Aeropress Go is like a syringe-like device. Grounds are put in one cylinder, and the other is used to press a plunger, the hot water through the beans, and filtered down into the mug. The coffee made has an intense concentration like espresso. You can create an Americano by adding more hot water or drink as it is. Different lattes can be made from shots of the coffee produced.

There are several ways you can brew coffee with Aeropress Go. We will learn with a simple method explained below;

·         Ensure you have hot water. Rinse your Aeropress with hot water. This helps to heat up, clean, and kill germs.

·         Weigh your beans (we will use 30 grams), grind(coarse), and pour into the brewing chamber. You can use the spoon to measure your scoop if you don't have a scale.

·         Place your filter cap on the chamber and rest it on a mug.

·         Add (225ml) hot water, stir with your stirrer severally and plunge. The water should be straight from the boil and poured as fast as possible.

·         Coffee should immediately start to drip into your mug through the filter.

·         After stirring for one minute, take off the plunge and stir gently in a back and forth movement, 3-4 times.

·         Place back the plunger and press gently to squeeze all the content.

·         Serve as desired.

The coffee made has a high concentration. So you can add water, take it as it is or make lattes.

Note:

1.      The degree of your water makes a difference in the flavour and smell of your coffee. Water at 90 degrees Celsius will give you a sharp flavour and rough-edged taste. It has a burnt or caramelized aroma, while water at 80 degrees Celsius will provide you with the same results but less pronounced.

2.      For those who prefer the inverted style, it's advisable to use bypassing method. This is where you turn your Aeropress Go upside down while brewing.

How to brew coffee using the inverted technique with Aeropress Go- the bypassing method

·         Ensure you have hot water. Heat your Aeropress Go by rinsing it with hot water. This is also a way to clean and kill germs.

·         We will use the same measure of coarsely ground beans at 30grams.

·         Plug your plunger into a chamber, create a seal, and flip.

·         Add your ground coffee.

Note: you will have two pours of water at 120ml each.

·         Gently add your first 120 ml of water hot water.

·         Stir until all the coffee is completely soaked in water.

·         Flip again and place it in a mug immediately.

·         Let it sit for 1 minute.

·         Press for 30 seconds.

·         Add the rest of 120ml hot water to your concentrate.

·         Pour your brewed coffee from the mug to the server repeatedly until it's 60 degrees hot.

The coffee you get is less acidic from the first brew, and it's nicely balanced.

Here is a trick to share with those who prefer this method. Do you brew directly into the serving vessel? Then, you can try the pitcher. You will not know that the coffee will not be as hot as it naturally is when pouring.

Tips

·         If you are travelling, you can have an electric pot or a thermos filled at home. The plunger can be used to measure and pour water.

·         You can prepare a cold brew with Aeropress Go., make a small and robust brew, and bypass cold water before serving.

·         For a smoother and cleaner cup, try using two filter papers. You can use a metal filter if you prefer that.

·         Wet your plugger rubber seal before use to make it more slippery and give it good friction while using it.

Conclusion

Give it a try.

Make sure you choose your preferred coffee beans and if you’re stretched for time you can even order them pre-ground for an aeropress. The Aeropress Go is no doubt a superior device to the original. But don’t just take our word for it…
